My Loves Poem by David Byer

My Loves

I have a love in my life
To do what is good
To do what is needed
To do what I should

But hidden inside
Where light hardly shines
Is a love I’m ashamed of
A secret of mine

For I have a love deep within
Of evil for others
To be selfish and mean
To do what I want in darkness unseen

But with both these inside me
I have one more love too
Which struggles to rise and to reign
A love that is balanced with hate

This love is the love of the love to do good
And to hate the love to do evil
But loving is hard and hating comes easy
As I’m pulled through the eye of the needle

So the struggle goes on and on again on
To love you the way I desire
So I’ll build up that love that in truths’ all I’ve wanted
And surrender my life to all you require
