Mandolyn ...

my love is ten times deeper

you're far away
from any kind of connection,
in the opposite direction
of a pit stop
where you kissed my lips
while my mouth had a fit
saying good-bye-

the smell of you stays;
acts out sometimes
around my face
pushes me down the hall
through a bedroom door

where i sleep you off
like a long day,
lacking melatonin-

the dream shakes
the ache inside me
refuses to pack its bags
and peel out
of my disarmed heart

it leaves the light on
and reminds me you're gone
your last squeeze
cinched to my hips-

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

Conscience is instinct bred in the house,
Feeling and Thinking propagate the sin
By an unnatural breeding in and in.
