My Little Girl Poem by Desy Newbill

My Little Girl

Last night I dreamt a little girl into this world
My little girl
With soft golden, brown, curls

She filled an empty place inside of me
Her skin and her smile glowed
She was smart and outgoing

One year old
She wore a baby blue sweatsuit
With two blue barrettes to match

And Her deep blue eyes
Painted a picture of my happiness
Eager and playful

She brought my spirit to life
Until I woke up this morning
And she was no longer mine

God, what a tease
For a moment there was total peace
But this is why I hold on tight

God gave me a glimpse
Of my future last night
