My Life Alone With You Poem by Rebecca Duncan

My Life Alone With You

Rating: 3.8

I can give you my laughter to harmonize with yours
My chatter to encourage yours
Or fling my arms open enveloping you in
Greetings and Farewells

Or patiently listen as you curse or praise some circumstance
Or place or thing
Action to meet reaction
With no regard for cause or effect
Involved only in the moment and each other
Ourselves alone

But more than this I doubt I can give
Nor do I ask of you
Struggling as I am
With what I am

And how I came to be
Ceaselessly rehearsing the very possibilities of my solitary life

A beautiful poem on solitude. Each stanza shines in its own beauty. It gets a 10 from me. Well done!
