My Life Poem by Lilli Singh

My Life

You carry my heart on your sleeve
I carry your words in my heart
My eyes are crying waterfalls
I'm about to fall apart

Twisted words of anger
Which, by now, should be dismissed
I try to diminish my quick growing anger
But still, these feelings persist

It seems strange to wonder
How one petty fight
Can destroy the bond we held so close
Tell me, Is this right?

It never used to bother us
But now we're growing apart
This constant distance between us
Is ruining my heart

My Nanna used to tell me
That when your friend is drifting away
You shouldn't do anything at all
To try and make them stay

Because if they really cared
They'd reconstruct your alliance
If they don't even make an attempt
You meet them with defiance

So I guess there's no room left for me
In your new family, new wife
But just remember one thing
You will always be my life.
