My Lesson Learned Poem by Aric Beers

My Lesson Learned

Rating: 5.0

Lessons learned, lessons taught
Every battle done and fought
Every time I failed to hear
When you called, when you neared
I saw you move in mighty ways
I've known you all my days
But when it can time to learn
I wanted loud, I wanted stern
I wanted to see you power show
But then you looked and told me no
I cry out in that place
Demanded that you showed your face
What I asked for is what you gave
But you gave in such a way I nearly caved
I asked for loud and you came through
You gave such a noise that could only be you
It knocked me flat, took me by surprise
But then you came and helped me rise
You showed me what I was meant to hear
You showed me there was nothing to fear
I just needed to listen for the still small voice
I just had to make that choice
I learned that day that lessons might hurt
That to learn I'd be brought lower than dirt
Life went on, that lesson in mind
Until I got stuck in a tight bind
I cried out to my God, to my King
I cried that redemption you'd bring
Just as before you gave into my plea
And just as before there was a lesson to see
It hurt me again but your message was clear
I heard the message I needed to hear
Each great lesson came with a hit
But each time it just seemed to fit
Now let me walk out in these teachings you gave
Let me use them, let me behave
