My Leather Jacket Poem by Ashley Dowdy (Forbus)

My Leather Jacket

My leather jacket has sentimental value
Passed down from mother to daugher
She says here baby-gurl from me to you
Treat it with precious care
This leather jacket has taking me everywhere
She tells me of the journies they've shared
From ridin til the sky is dark camping beneath the twinkling stars
To romancing on the back of the bike reaching down to pick daisies
to place in her hair
My leather jacket is stiched with patches
Each one embedded with memories
One says 'Ride the Wind'
That is exactly what she did
On the back of his bike life is without care
All while this leather jacket bearing witness
All her memories I'm privledged to wear
Now my leather jacket means protection and
is there when times need correction
When I need a new direction
It'll be there for me through my journies
Whole heartedly thanking my mother for passing down her leather jacket
of her time so I can create and add new ones in my time
Now can't you see, this leather jacket means more to me than a
million pretty dimes?
