My Kingdom Poem by Jasmine Thompson

My Kingdom

An encased fortress
Protecting us from harm
Stone walls and guards

A place I loved
With my whole heart
‘Til his prophecy tore it apart

Marry your mother
And kill your father
He told

Our mother died
You stabbed out your eyes
The kingdom cried

Life became unreal
I didn't know what to feel
These wounds will never heal

Brothers took to battle
Creon took the throne
The kingdom has gone cold

For his order cried out
That one brother will be saved
The other left with no grave

And there I stand
As I close the gate
Filled with hate

As I look back
For the last time
The place I loved
Isn't mine

the poem is full of sad thoughts and pain... poet`s heart pain... i always say - life is difficult in its understanding and absurd in its performance, but we need go ahead to create ourselves and our future....go through all troubles and misunderstanding.
