My Joy Is Now Poem by Charles Mackintosh

My Joy Is Now

Did you not hear me go?

There was a loud shout
Of joy
And stepping forward
Into the light
I hailed them

I glanced back
In case you came with me
You always came before
You slept so peacefully, my love
I could not wake you then

So do not grieve
My joy is now
Your joy will come in time
