My Heart's Desire Poem by Joshua Scott

My Heart's Desire

Rating: 4.0

If I must speak my heart's desire,
I dare not stand inside the fire,
Of burning flesh, blood, and bone,
Reaping emptiness alone,
Instead depart my foolish ways,
Of anger, lust, and selfish praise,
Learn to view myself as lost,
Or pay the devil's pricey cost,
For I alone commit my sins,
And torture all my innocence,
I know I must condemn my heart,
In humble pain I must restart,
To live a life of endless love,
The riches which I know not of,
For in the end the Lord will claim,
Those in Him who call His name,
Or die a grizzly death alone,
For Satan to proclaim his own,
So hear me Lord I pray that you,
Can do for me what I cannot do,
Save me from myself my God,
Give me ample line and rod,
To become a fisher of men,
A loving husband,
A selfless man, a simple man,
With a simple plan,
To raise my kids to love you Lord,
And teach them what this life is for,
So hear me God I pray to you,
Make me give this heart to you!
Amen
