My Heart Goes On

Even when the heart seems far away
Like the heart’s on a long stroll
The aftermath of thoughts so lost away
Emotions now taking its toll
She just doesn’t understand
Neither can she read what my heart needs
‘I want more of you’ it cries
Wants to have you, hold you, and love you
But she doesn’t understand
The intricacies of this unending love
After so many heartbreaks- the silent tears
Untold thoughts, sometimes agonies
A comforting thought majorly comes in
Sorts the whole issue apart
With the bright smile and the colourful laughter
Still all mixed with the ‘Ogbomosho’ accent
In that ancient city, I find that which my heart has always longed for

Poem of the Day

poet Wilfred Owen

All sounds have been as music to my listening:
Pacific lamentations of slow bells,
The crunch of boots on blue snow rosy-glistening,
Shuffle of autumn leaves; and all farewells:
