My Grandfather Poem by Aleysha MacIntosh

My Grandfather

My Grandfather

When I was just a little girl,
Adults voices around me’d whirl
Telling tales of a man so
Gentle and kind, you could
See it in his eyes.
A man who gave, a man who shared.
He loved the world and oh how he cared.
A man whose honesty, and loyalty could
Always show through.
A man so sweet, it’s hard to
Believe this tale is true.

Now I that I’m older,
I’ve grown to know
That sweet man
And how much he loves me so.
I’ve come to find all the tales are true.
His kindness, it always
Shines through.

Now, when people talk about the man
So gentle and kind,
Helpful and wise
A man who’d rush out in the snow
To help a friend in need.
A man who isn’t scared of anything,
Or any deed.
And the hugest tasks,
To him are no bother.
I smile and happily say ‘I know,
He’s my grandfather.’
