My Friend Andy Poem by Shalom Freedman

My Friend Andy

MY FRIEND ANDY

My friend Andy
Where are you?
Why after all these years
Do you not want to be in touch?

Is it because you think
I have become ‘someone’
And you not

Believe me
I am a ‘nobody’ in the eyes of the world

Please let us speak again
Before one of us dies

We were such good friends
So many years

The laughter the life we shared
The memories only we have
Of childhood of youth
Of so many people we knew

You were kind to my mother
In her last years
When I was far away

We were friends so long
I miss you

Can’t we just talk and laugh together again
As we did for so many years
