My Friend Poem by Khairul Ahsan

My Friend

Rating: 5.0

I am bound in eternal friendship,
With The Supreme, The Most High,
Preachers taught me to call Him
My Lord, but I call Him my Friend.

I call Him my friend because He is
The quickest to reach and the quickest
To always respond to my cry for help,
And that's why He is truly my Friend.

I am what I am, because He is in me,
Deep within; I take my every breath
With His Blessings, which He ushered
On me, before I was even born.
Since then He is my unseen Friend.

People love me just because my Friend
Lives within me. When He would leave me,
So would everybody, burying me in a grave,
Where my mortal remains would lie without
My Friend.

I know my Friend will never leave me.
He would just take my soul with Him,
As He departs. My body will lie in wait,
Until The Resurrection, to meet again,
My Friend.

Yes, it will be the Day of Judgement too,
I'll be asked about my words and deeds,
Tough will be to answer those, yet I have
No worries. As I always sought refuge in
My Friend.

Sure He knows of the frailties of my mind,
He was in me when I erred so many times
Satanic whispers got the better of me,
Whenever, by intent or not, I parted from
My Friend.

He is no doubt the Beneficent, the Merciful,
A faith that I nurtured and always relied on.
Irrevocable is His promise of Divine Pardon,
My sins cannot transcend the endless limits
Of my Friend's Forgiveness.

So, oh my mortal friends! Scare me not with
The dreadful thought of burning in the Hellfire!
Speak not of Divine Punishment, But of Divine
Compassion, Love, Mercy, Pardon and Protection
Of my Friend.

What an inspirational poem very eloquent and no doubt John 15 verse 15 was the catalyst for the inspiration. I am particularly impressed by your courage to reveal your heart in prose. May I list you as my friend. PS: I have been trying to thank you for your kind words on my work however Enter the verification code has not been my friend it seems to co-operate at random.

God can be felt and called as friend, father, mother, child, lover, husband and even a grand father..why not..there was a tamil poet by name Subhramanya Bharati who wrote about Krishna as his girlfriend in his poems... God is mine, yours, his, hers, theirs inclusive of all flora and fauna...a great inspiring poem that I have read in the recent times....thanks a lot....5 stars

A poem that carries the ultimate Truth with extreme beauty....a poem that preaches how to be in contact with that supreme Power... a poem that helps to have a pragmatic link with that supreme Power....God is everything to every individual..

Try not scare me With the dreadful thought of burning in Fire! ......... //......... Faith is indeed a great source of strength which the poet has persistently 'nurtured and always relied on'. I have enjoyed reading this wonderful poem with a divine message. Thanks a lot.
