My Foolish Heart Poem by Caitlyn Williams

My Foolish Heart

I remember us. Sitting on our favorite cliff watching the sun settle below the soft, pillowy clouds. I remember you. Holding my hand and gently stroking the fushia heart ring you had given me for my birthday. I remember me. Scooting closer to you, urging you to protect me from the chilling wind that tickled my skin. I remember it. The soft grass that had reigned witness to the many nights we had lain under the sky and counted the stars. I remember them. Those who had warned me about your deceiving mind. I remember my heartbreak. When you told me that i thought we had was really just something plutonic, and that it was never real. I remember my tears. How they all fell to the floor beside my tear soaked pillows. I remember my foolish heart and how because of it, i fell for your tricks and games.
