My First Love Poem by Azmi Jamal

My First Love

My First Love

Far North he came from
Long hair with beautiful ‘tash
Eyes light green like a deep lake
Skin that glows but never tans
Burns Red immensely instead

My First Love
Arrived in late night May
Left early morning in June
Was the best thing that happen that year
He brought me his heart
But left with mine

My First love
Caring forever giving
He was humble
He was calm
Full of passion but buried inside
He thought me meaning of love
the meaning of patience
the meaning of selflessness

Gave me hope
Gave me dreams
Gave me the best night sleep
In his arms in his warmth

My First love
Had tears at the first glance
Still in tear of the last glance
It’s the meaning of love
Realized when he was gone

I doubted enough
I toured enough
In vain I thought
he wasn’t enough too

Ignoring the blessing
I tried changing him
I was naïve, immature
Forgetting to be thankful

My First love
Still I think of him
Still my heart weakens
Forever in debt
Forever am spoilt
Forever thankful
And Forever it remains

Forever together
Bonded as first lovers
