My Favorite Prayer Poem by Savita Tyagi

My Favorite Prayer

Rating: 5.0

"Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.

And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love".

Rabindranath Tagore

Many times I recite the above words again and again.
When life is so packed with daily pressures
There seems no way to come out of it
Tagore's words come to rescue
To take me beyond life's tiring agonies.

In all sincerity my heart calls upon my dear Goddess
To get me out of this gloom.
Can't do it own my own!
I ask her to shower her grace upon me!
Give me the strength to raise myself up
Beyond the daily trifles.
Give me the strength to surrender my steps to thy will.
Give me the strength to leave my worries at your doorstep.
Give me the strength to take comfort in thy love.
Oh! Dear Goddess! Give me the strength!
Give me the strength.....
And reciting my favorite prayer
I fall sleep.

या देवी सर्व भूतेषु शक्ति रूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यि नमस्तस्यि नमस्तस्यि नमो नम: ।*

Translation of Sanskrit prayer*: The Goddess who resides in all beings in the form of strength, I bow to her, I bow to her.

A beautiful prayer Savita.... in everyone's life, there are moments when we find things slipping out of control, also moments when we are afflicted by nameless agonies... On such moments, a prayer uttered in all earnestness and faith can clear the fog in our mind and allow light to seep inside! None except God can lift our burdens...! I love all the poems in Tagore's Gitanjali!
