My Father! Poem by Shahzia Batool

My Father!

Rating: 3.9

You never held my hand
while crossing the rushed roads of life
rather made me strong
by letting me hold your masculine finger
in my tiny grip

One day, i lost you
in the midst of the indifferent roads
your eyes you closed
my grip loosened
and I grew up by a year in a single day

exchanging the glance
with the first ever tragedy felt on pulse
it looked as if
the sky would fall down
and the earth give way

but, no! neither the sky falls down
nor the earth gives way
since then I learnt
how to wear the veil of smile hiding the tear,
how to tread on the rushed roads of life without fear!

A beautiful heart touching write. It is His blessing you are able to cross all roads of your life. But as a brother i do encourage you to march forward.

shazia ji.. i see your talent and skill, goes otherwise... i don't think so POETRY is just sharing and expressing, there must be something that never been explored. i often see you'r attempting cliche and trite... why not pen some strange, unique and weird themes as you'r the one who can do it. p.s. apology, if overstepped. and honestly there is no room for sesquipedalian adjectives for a person like you.

It's a nice poem. You have so nicely described how your loving father helped you grow your confidence by letting you go independent at times. 'since then I learnt how to wear the veil of smile hiding the tear, how to tread on the rushed roads of life without fear! ' - Loved these beautiful lines.

Everything considered with no bias our father and mother are equal to us. Most of the poets write about Mothers in general and that is a matter of convention perhaps. A dear daughter writing on her departed father who was everything to her is a great daughter. I regret my inability to write a poem on my father as he was just like your 'heavenly father' who has ever failed to leave any indelible impressions on my mind....

since then I learnt how to wear the veil of smile hiding the tear, how to tread on the rushed roads of life without fear! ....lucky you, .... as long as you don't develop stomach ulcers due to the veil. well done. bri :)

rather to comment on these personal feelings that i am obliged to read, i have something else to share. this strange software which we have 'built in', which makes our relations and emotions and moods and also dreams, and He says that in the day of judgement nobody will care for anybody. strange game show
