My Esl Slow Learners Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

My Esl Slow Learners

MY ESL SLOW LEARNERS
A conscientious teacher I am
to have more care for the slow learners.
To teach a topic in grammar
I would begin from the basics.
After a week, when I teach the same,
I repeat again from the Parts of Speech.
Some Johnsons have the guts to tell me
from the hold of basics to be free.
" You take part in activities
and interact with me in English!
A lot of improvement for ESL boys! ",
when I said to my dear pupils,
" Sir. The youths these days are cellphone booths.
They toddle often on the railway line
and hop soon on the portals of heaven,
as the fast trains smash them to pieces.
Some on roads knock the women down,
snatch the chains and speed away in rains.
The boys who fail to make for jobs
tight the noose around the necks of the old
and make off with gold, before the cops mop them up.
Some juviniles send obscene SMS
to womenfolk and mail themselves into jail.
Some are prone to fall into the webs of Terror
and wreak havoc to their life and the world.
Please preach them the basic human values
and save them from the gallows or encounters".
"O my God! My duty isn't constrained
within the fourwalls of the classrooms.
It goes far off! It goes far off! ",
I hum and smile at my slow learners.
