My Drunken Friends Poem by Reyvrex Questor Reyes

My Drunken Friends

My Drunken Friends

They were my friends
Mainly because they drink
And I do not.

That is not to say
I do not taste wine
I do
Maybe, half a pint
Just a mouthful
That is not drinking
Just tasting.

And we were friends
Because of that
For if I tasted more
I'll stay long enough
For us to quarrel
About anything.

That is what drinking is for
An alibi
Not just for leaving home
But to tell views
On top of people's views
And that causes quarrels
Disputes.

That leads to war
When good thinking fails
But thinking needs brains
In brains are neurons
But not neurons with alcohol
As of drinking men's
Like in my drinking friends.'

But friends, we are
Come Hell, or come Heaven
They could become drunken angels
If there are such.

But should they burn in Hell
I'll still find them
In places where the fire
Rises higher than the rest
Due to their blood
Their blood's alcohol content.
