My Desire Poem by Gregory De Brauwer

My Desire

Thursday August 22 ‎2013, ‏‎3: 24: 28

I Desire Power,

No everyday superpower from comic books like the ability to fly, have superstrength or to turn invisible.

Nor do I want power on a global level by having servants
or a large amount of money.

The power I desire is not for selfish reasons,
it is impossible to obtain.

The power to touch your skin, and heal the scars that taint them.
Even when there are none to be seen, except by you, and those who know your story. Scars created by those who made you cry.

The power to calm the storm in your mind,
so the rain wont fall from your eyes.

The power to smash the mirror,
which reflects your very own image tainted by low self esteem.
And replace it with my perspective, so you would gaze upon the
wonderful person you never thought to be there.

The power to let non existing music play inside your head
for not even the most touching lyrics know today are able
to describe how I feel towards you, what I want to confess and express.
How I crave for your embrace, and won't settle for anything less.

In my powerlessness I write this poem,
Dedicated to those I cant help on my own.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Even today some that are close to me are struggling with
anxiety and depression, watching the things you love most decay
because of this terrible decease is a dreadful thing to watch at.
