My Childhood Poem by harkjoon lee

My Childhood

Oh, I remember my childhood
when I used to play soccer with my grandfather in the neighborhood park

The smells of both fresh air and sweat
greeting us as we entered

Soon the soccer ball lands on the field
slowly jogging here and there at first then it jumping madly

Sometimes it can’t withstand my grandfather’s large wall and comes back
Other times it straightly goes into the crack
of that wall

Basketballs bumping to the ground from around
Like a march of soldiers in the battleground

The sound of keyboards being typed by children of innocence
Like there’s nothing to worry about
Filled with total confidence

Then suddenly, two of us fall
into twilight with nothing other than one single ball
