My Child Poem by Serena Blackinton

My Child

Dear child of mine, I hear your cries
And want to wipe the water from your eyes
I want to hold you so near
And banish your distrust and fear
I want to guide you on your way
And send sunshine for you again today
I want to give you peace and quiet
And still the others when they riot
I want to give you unconditional love
But you have to stop looking above
You need to listen when I speak
And truth you'll find when you truly seek
I'm at your heart begging you to let me in
But you ignore my pleas and let the darkness win.
