My Black Valentine 2012 (The Day Before It Were) Poem by Ian Jay Bantilan

My Black Valentine 2012 (The Day Before It Were)

I walk through streets of heavy rain
Stride a tip-toe on the Street Lane
I feel a Gush of mist that blew my cheek
As drops of water start to leak.

I walk towards Fortune Towne Station,
beyond the Maize vendors and wet carton
What a long day, if I may say
And tomorrow's special but still no date.

I remember these roads as the jeepney tells,
Of memories past where I could dwell
The Old Bacolod Plaza and the cool smell
Of Fresh Rain and the clanging Bells.

Those times are past and it is time,
That love be tried to know it's fine
No more timid boys a-waiting
For Lovely girls, from coy to Dating

But the old days we've come to remember
Those were the times when love was sweet
We chased little girls, gave them letters
So sweet it was, you lose all teeth!

I can remember, the Supermarket
I followed a girl all over the basket
She'd give a peak, mysterious eyes
Then run away I don't know why

I gave a chase, she'd run away
But just enough so I could play
I catch a glimpse of her that way
But where she stood her mom now stays.

A bit amused she took a glance
At this little boy looking for
Her little daughter behind her pants
Who would know I was only four.

A simple Waltz, a Golden Truth,
That ladies, gentlemen could use.
It takes two to play the game.
Where One pursues the other draw-away.
Then let us go to Grill Gruru, and take some time
To celebrate a Happy Black Valentine.
