My Birthday Wish For You

If I could be granted,
just one wish,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
that every first star,
you've gazed upon,
and wished upon,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
for all the rainbows,
you've gazed upon,
and wished upon,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
for every shooting star,
you've gazed upon,
and wished upon,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
for each wishbone,
you've ever broken,
and wished upon,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
for all the birthdays,
that have come and gone,
for all the birthday candles,
and wished upon,
I'd wish,
this wish,
just for you.

I'd wish,
that all your wishes,
you've ever made,
or ever will make,
would come true.............

poet Katharine Lee Bates

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
