My Being Poem by Emily Boschulte

My Being

Empty and desolate
my soul is barren
in time I will just
get worse
loveless and lost
you don't understand
on the inside
I cry out
hoping you'll hear
I shed few tears
but choose not to let them
show
sitting here
waiting day by day
for things to
change
longing to hear those
three words
but they'll never come
tell me that I am hated
and worthless
but I already know that
empty and desolate
I walk alone

unlike Colleen, below, i did not sense that the speaker necessarily has been in a 'relationship' yet. i wonder. bri :)

Love how honest this poem comes across, but how awful that one feels they need to remain with one who is so terribly cruel! Although to leave means being alone for awhile, it also means freeing you to be able to let one who will treat you kindly into your life.
