My Beating Heart Poem by Matt Reyes

My Beating Heart

Rating: 5.0

At night I sit,
Alone in the dark.
All is still.
All is silent,
Except the sound
Of my beating heart.
Each beat proves,
That I am alive.
Yet, am I?
I feel so empty,
Without her.
Those eyes, so beautiful,
Brought me to life.
Yet, she's an angel,
So am I dead?
Am I in
Heaven?
No, don't be silly.
But the moments
Without her
Were Hell.
One can't be both
Places at once,
So I must be alive.
But I only lived,
When I was with her.
I would smile,
All the time.
Yet, it has faded.
I would laugh
Constantly,
But, no more.
I only knew
Happiness
With her.
Now, I only know
Despair.
I remember holding
Her hand.
It was so soft.
I remember hugging
Her so tightly.
Nothing could spoil
Those moments
With her.
Luckily, I still
Hug her,
But it's not
The same.
She once had feelings,
For me.
She once
Loved me.
I know not if
Those feelings remain.
All I do know,
Is that I never
Stopped having
Feelings for her.
I have never stopped
Loving her.
All is still.
All is silent,
Except the sound
Of my beating heart.
My beating heart,
Which beats for her,
My beating heart,
Which has grown dark.
Only she can save me,
Bring me to life.
Only you.
At night I sit,
Alone in the dark.
All is still.
All is silent,
Except the sound
Of my beating heart.
Which Beats For You.
