Musings Of An Idle Mind Poem by Sindhu Manoj

Musings Of An Idle Mind

I wish I had a pair of wings
To fly high - far into the wilderness
Where the mountains kiss the sky
And the valleys shine in green
I would then walk- happy and blithe
With no qualms - in nature's hug
My hair I'd leave untied
To have the wind play with it
I would sit on the rock in the brook
And listen to the babble
As she flows down and down
The curves so perfect and the pace slow
She makes my feet look so white
And I feel the earth beneath
With pebbles so round and shiny
I would then walk to the cascades
And by the slippery rocks I'll stand
To have my face sprayed with cool drops
And then walk back - In the mist as it spreads
As dusk falls I'd make the green grass my bed
And watch the sky - in her new dress
So full of twinkling stars like diamond beads
I'd look for the Milky Way and the Orion
And wish upon a shooting star
Watch the fireflies dance in frenzy
And listen to the nightingale's song for her love
Till the crickets sing me a lullaby
And the cool breeze rock me to sleep
The silence of dawn would wake me up
In the tranquility of nature's lap
I'd watch the nascent sun arrive - and
Present his gift in colors - so myriad- to his love
As she opens her eyes - kissed by his golden rays
As the birds rejoice in this reunion
I'd leave the sparkle of my dew strewn bed
And fly back - to the undulating plains below..
