Todo o cuidado nestas rimas ponho;
Musa, peço-te, pois, que me remetas
Versos que tenham rútilas facetas,
E não revelem trovador bisonho.

Meia noite bateu. Sai risonho...
Brilhava — oh, musa, não me comprometas! —
O mais belo de todos os planetas
N'um céu que parecia um céu de sonho.

O mais belo de todos os prazeres
Gozei, à doce luz dos olhos pretos
Da mais bela de todas as mulheres!

Pobres quartetos! míseros tercetos!...
Musa, musa infeliz, dar-me não queres.
O mais belo de todos os sonetos!...
