Mum's Closing Hours. Poem by Aron Lelei

Mum's Closing Hours.

Rating: 5.0

Today’s sky was pale and grey,
It was blanketed with thick nimbus clouds
Signs of gloom, tears of joy filled the sky
Floods of mist formed in the corners of the sky
All in announcement of good tidings
Little did I know what was in store for me.
As tears of peace formed in everyone’s eyes,
Upheaval was soon to pronounce itself.
The train had come to pack mama home.
Farewell dear mum!

As the sky blackened with clouds,
Flowers nosed up scentfully,
Animals walked to their resting-places,
All with joys and wonders of blessings,
Yet in the one corner of townside,
One cried foul with bitterness.
The heart, body and soul all heavy laden,
Filled with sorrow and pain untold.
The train had come to pack mama home.
Farewell dear mum!

At the closing hours of the day,
The sky teared up silvery drops of water,
Drops that formed pot wounds on raw earth,
Watered the thirsting living creatures,
Dusted the loose fleshy earth,
And bathed the hungry withering souls.
But somewhere, mourning voices rented the air,
Wails, cries and sobs rung down the hearts,
The train had come to pack mama home.
Farewell dear mum!

Finally, as we close mum’s cabinets of time,
Our supplications and prayers are before God.
Psalms and ecclesiastical phrases numbs up.
We have nothing to utter or squeal.
Mums’ parting has overwhelmed our all.
As you part dear mum,
Memories of your admonitions and teachings,
Love, passion, compassion, guidance and care,
Are still new in our hearts.
Mum! I loved you very much.
Sleep well lovely mummy,
You are still my mum though gone.
