Mr Wonderful Poem by Hazel Durham

Mr Wonderful

Rating: 4.6

When at last she gets to slumber,
She dreams of Mr Wonderful,
Every night,
She is resolute to find the sunlight,
To move to the city of New York,
As here at home she is just bobbing on the ocean,

Like a lone cork,
The waves battering the core of her being,
The wind howling at her emotional turmoil,
While Cental Park is holding it's arms
Outstretched from the depths of it's soil,
To embrace and charm,

To uplift her to the spectacular heights of it's skyscrapers,
And the promise of millions of city lights,
To nurture and lure,
Her to the Big Apple's might.
She is living in a small village in east Clare,
Picking bog cotton like a white delight,

She dresses in colourful gypsy style skirts,
But she feels a huge part of her is missing,
As she is desperately wishing,
To escape her internal ache,
That keeps her awake,
In long, empty nights,

She knows she has to fight,
To not allow her inner light to fade,
She has uncontrollable auburn hair,
With curls astray,
And green cat eyes fully made up,
Colours to brighten and uplift the day,

Untamed she will claim,
Her Mr Wonderful,
Even though her beloved animals are her life,
But she wants to be his wife,
She takes a plane to New York,
An escape,

To lights and action,
Her reaction,
Is to make the angst disappear,
Then a postman knocks on her apartment door,
Her heart opens to Mr Wonderful,
He is tall, handsome and strong,

She falls deeply in love,
This time she feels so right instead of wrong,
With the sound of angels singing from above,
As his brown eyes dazzle her with love,
More than New York city lights,
She now wears no more eyeshadow,

Just her hair tied up in a colourful bow,
As her green eyes shine like diamonds,
There is a calming lull,
Since she has met her Mr Wonderful!

I feel this is the continuation of your poem City Lights! I am happy she has come to compromise with her life and his eyes have begun to dazzle her more than New york's city lights and that she has really discovered her Mr. Wonderful in a better light! Very imaginative Hazel!

God fulfills every one's desire. Nicely penned and I think you have taken much pain to explore your thoughts.

The tale is told in a charming way and the composition has come off as a semi anecdote of the kind. The fantasies of the human minds are marvellous and Mr Wonderful is a great offspring of such fantasies here. I am giving 10 marks for it Hazel.
