Mr President Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

Mr President

Mr. President:
I have seen you bow your head; I know you must be in prayer.
I am deeply touched with your humility, a man of your stature and power.
I have noticed that you are not ashamed, and I think you are sincere,
As you petition the Almighty to lend an open ear.

Mr. President:
I believe you take prayer seriously and I think I know why-
You pray for His wisdom, for you dare not on your own rely.
You pray for peace for our country and for the peoples of the world,
You pray for love, hope, and happiness for men, women, and boys and girls.

Mr. President:
I know you are in a situation that few of us will ever be in,
You are criticized at every turn and at times it seems "No win."
I know that I have not been as thankful for all that you have done,
For all the battles you have fought, and all the victories won.

Mr. President:
I know yours is an awesome responsibility as we are hard to bear,
But still, you take the time to speak to God and lift us up in prayer.
I am so blessed to have you as my president and grateful for all you do.
So, now Mr. President, if you don't mind, I'd like to pray for you:

Dear God:
Would you bless my President and make his days be bright?
Please give him wisdom, grace, and strength to keep his day and night.
May his life be filled with joy and peace, time and time again.
Dear Lord, may he be safe within Your care, in Jesus' name, Amen.
