Movie Theater Poem by Zach Taylor

Movie Theater

Rating: 4.7

Smell of popcorn in the air,
Get my cookie dough bits and jumbo pop,
Decide on which movie and theatre I shall attend,
I sit down only to spill my pop,
Air conditioning has picked up now,
I find a new seat, go get a new pop, and return,
Only to find my seat taken, movie starting,
Right in the best part, the climax, a phone rings, I will never know the ending.

I like this poem a lot! It's like a short story, very condensed. At first you feel the excitement in the air with the popcorn buttery wafting fragrance we all have come to know and love and the soda and then the things that can go wrong in a movie theatre one by one by one reminding me again why I never go there anymore. A universal subject treated in an individual poetic voice and a kind of scientific summary that produces by definition the exact feeling of not knowing after all those adjustments to reality, what happened in the movie!
