Move Away Gently Poem by Margaret Kollmer

Move Away Gently

Rating: 5.0

Move away gently
You're draining my sap -
sending suckers to my mind
and clutching at the roots
of my existence.
I feel the weight of you
like a broken limb of Spring
and grow weary
of nursing the probing tendrils
of your desire.
Move away gently
lest this porcelain caryatid cracks
and shatters in the barren arms
of yesterday's echoing sigh.
