Mothers Love Poem by Mixo Malepfane

Mothers Love

She wanted me all her life
She loves me more than she loves herself
Sacrificing herself for me has always been her way
She told me I am her best

Her selflessness has made me love her more
I know that without her I would not be
Everything I know she taught me
I sometimes wonder if I would equate to her level

Did I tell you she was the first to wipe my tears and sorrows away
I am her living dream and I hope to be a true dream
I am a man today because she was a woman
I am a father today because she was a mother
I know a woman’s worth because she made me understand

Before me, she was a lover with the world at her feet
Even after me is still a lover but a mother
She says I gave her courage
She says I am her pride but I should not have pride
Did I tell you who this woman is
It is you my sister
And this woman is in you
