Mother's Devotion Poem by Swamidhason Francis

Mother's Devotion

When birds wake up the sun with melodies, mom is up singing David’s psalms;
When workers troop out drooling, mom packs us to school with books and food;
When gates of schools close for the day, mom opens the door to our evening mood;
When sleep shuts our eyes with her nightly kiss, mom has chores still at her palms;

When years pass by smearing our teen minds with new fears of worldly qualms,
When fear of future wears out our cheer, mom is near us with mask less mood.
When matches usher into our life new relations, mom is there wishing us good.
When wrinkles appear on our faces too, mom is still there patting us with her psalms.

But, when pulls of life pull us away from home, away we move, leaving behind mother,
And her loving smile, beside dad, only dad; only words and visuals connect us now,
Never and never replacing her soft kiss on our sweaty forehead; still mom is there all day.

When old age steals human weal, when medicines and doctors fill the days of mother,
When we struggle to steal time to be with her, she smiles; when guardian angels bow
To her motherhood at her last breath, she only prays, ‘Bless my children all day! ’
