Mother's Courage (1) Poem by U Win Kyi

Mother's Courage (1)

2 children were playing in the field,
running around very happy.
Accidentally they disturbed a hornet nest.
The hornets became angry and started to attack.
The children shouted to mother for help.
She ran to them to protect.
In the field there was nowhere to hide.
The drone of hornet began to sting and bite.
She pulled the children to lie down
and she threw herself on the ground.
With her body she covered the children
so that from the sting she could defend.
The angry hornets stung her with all might,
from head to toe, from right to left, from left to right.
They were at the mercy of hornet,
absolutely helpless.
The villagers saw them and drove away the hornets.
The old daughter and mother were stung to death.
The young son escaped death without a scratch.
Upon hearing the news everybody felt very sad.
It is a true story worth telling to kids at time to bed,
about Mother's Love and Courage
for her children's good benefit and sake.
