Mother Nature Poem by Valsa George

Mother Nature

Rating: 5.0

Nature, thou art God’s creation,
The Benign Mother to all Creation,
Decked in beauty, dressed in glory,
Thou singest hymns to God your Lord.

Bards chant in praise of you,
Sages withdraw to thy silence serene,
Beasts and birds have made you their home,
Men find sustenance and thrive on you,
Dales and Valleys – gems in your crown,
Rivers and Oceans – girdle around your waist,
Dark forests lend you charm,
And deep Ravines spell thy mystery.

Benevolent thou art, still ever malevolent men,
They assault you, they maim and mar,
They suck the life sap – they leave you dry,
They ooze out the blood and cast you dead.

Oh! Pardon us! ! ‘Spare your rod’
Lash not – we fall at your feet!

You have drawn a portrait of mother nature in all its rugged charm and warmth, its flora and fauna, sustaining life on earth, in spite of the onslaught of man's ever increasing greed. It is time man shunned his follies to avoid nature's fury any further. Thanks Valsa ji. We all pray with you: Oh! Pardon us! ! ‘Spare your rod’ / Lash not – we fall at your feet!

What! forests don't deserve a capital letter! ? that seems discriminatory. i'll talk to Mother when i see her for lunch next week! NO! not Mother Valsa; we just chat online. hee hee. favorite lines: Bards chant in praise of you, Sages withdraw to thy silence serene, Beasts and birds have made you their home, Men find sustenance and thrive on you, well, Mother may not lash out, but she's got a few tricks up her sleeve! : ( bri :)

Nature, 'The Benign Mother to all Creation' - what a deep realisation and outspoken pronouncement! The second stanza is particularly beautiful, not perhaps because how Bri Edwards saw it (if I could catch his meanings right) , but because as I have read it. Loved these lines: 'Bards chant in praise of you, Sages withdraw to thy silence serene, Beasts and birds have made you their home, Men find sustenance and thrive on you'.

i see a previous comment from me. but this deserves TWO! Dressed In Glory ......[inspired by V. George's poem Mother Nature; fun for Bri; short] If Mother Nature must be dressed at all, i hope, when i look her way, her dress will fall. But just 'oh so slightly' when i, first, take a look, just like turning a few pages of a joyous book. I'll bet you DO have a Rivers and Oceans girdle, and peeking out from it may be a happy turtle. And below a Dark forest i bet there IS a Ravine, which, by (MANY) Nature-lovers, has been gladly seen. I'd better be careful NOT to echo the 3rd fine stanza, though, if i dared to, you might realize a true bonanza. Oh! Pardon me, Valsa! ! ‘Spare your rod’ Lash not – i fall at your feet! i'm a lowly sod. (October 11, 2016) yes! i shall submit it! try to stop me! ! ! bri :)
