Mother, May You Live Forever In My Life Poem by Emmanuel Arunee Mwanza

Mother, May You Live Forever In My Life

There was a beautiful smile
That greeted me
There was a beautiful face
That greeted mine warmly
And that smile
And that face
Showed me the way to my life
It marked itself as my beginning
It was happiness that was written all over the face
But
I couldn't see it
I couldn't understand it
As I was busy crying
Yes, I cried because someone pinched me
They weren't evil
but they wanted me to tell them
Am Alive
And my cry made them all happy
From how she has been proud of me throughout my journey
I can imagine her smile now
I can imagine her beautiful face then
And I can say
There was a beautiful smile
That greeted me
There was a beautiful face
That greeted mine warmly
And that smile
And that face
Showed me the way to my life
She cared for me
She looked after me
And she could beat me sometimes
If I went against her
She made sure I was on course on the road to which she introduced me
Was I to depart from the path
I would have to
And I did as a teen
Nevertheless
There was a beautiful smile
That greeted me
There was a beautiful face
That greeted mine warmly
And that smile
And that face
Showed me the way to my life
She came back to me and talked sense
As beautiful as she was then
So is she
As her beauty, so is her voice
The tone from that loving woman's voice
So cool when she advises
Is not it?
Yes, she always advises
She always cares
She always always has cared
For you and for me
and such advises
brought me back on course,
tell yourself;
and if i depart from it
then i go against her love,
remind yourself;
the true love i ever get from a woman
and now that am grown up,
remind yourself;
now that am old enough,
tell yourself;
i can make my own decisions,
whatever i do,
however i do,
she made me feel loved, tell yourself;
she tried with what she had
to make me a good person
and this am sure about
and as a grown up, ask yourself;
Should I celebrate her life?
Should you celebrate her life?
Yes!
Even if she is gone ahead of you to heaven
Make her proud;
pinch yourself like the first time you cried
if you go against what could make her happy
and you will remember her
and you would make her happy like
the day she introduced you to the road
to this journey that we call life
So
Please always carry her in your heart
Like the way she did in her arms
Remember how good the face was
Even if you never saw her
Just know
And say to yourself
There was a beautiful smile
That greeted me
There was a beautiful face
That greeted mine warmly
And that smile
And that face
Showed me the way to my life
And that face belonged to a woman
Who first loved you than any other woman on earth
That woman is no other than my mother
That woman is no other than your mother
That woman is no other than our mother
A woman, you should always respect
A woman, I will always respect
Mother, may you live forever in my life
Even if you are gone
So be our prayers for the women we call our mothers
