Mother Poem by KASINIVENTHAN MUTHURAMALINGAM

Mother

Amma you taught me to crawl as an infant
you bought me the slippers to walk as a boy to school,
you ironed my clothes so the wrinkles are removed,
you cooked my food so I may eat and grow stronger to climb over
a mountain,
you taught me the alphabets of life so I may be able to drink
the nectar of wisdom from the fountain,
You taught me the manners over the table
you narrated the Stories from the fables
They were usually Hanuman playing with the Sun
Or Sivaji Maharaja escaping from the prison,
Now the Real story coming to an end,
My loving mother preparing to board the train to the cosmic
world,
She shared her travels with me in horse Jutkhas, Bullock carts,
Buses, Trains and Aeroplanes selflessly,
The only selfish act now she indulges is her most inevitable
inescapable travel,
Amma I waited in the doorsteps of our house every day when
you went to school to teach as a Teacher
Now also shall I wait to see you back in the evening
when it is the evening of your life to be followed by the darkest of dark nights,
You are in the ICU ward, Is it I C U or I cant see you any more ward,
Mummy I need you Mummy I petition the Dancing Lord Nataraja
He gives a stoic smile in his stony silence
He is Master of Mysteries and I feel one among them is my Prayer
which may be also a myster
