Mother Poem by Venkateswaran Krishnan Sreenivasan

Mother

Rating: 5.0

You fed me in your womb with your blood,
You fed me on your lap with your milk,
You nursed me in your heart by your love,
Oh! Mother divine! To thee I bow.

I startled in my sleep and you woke,
Ere I cried for a feed, you gave
When I fell in my play, you cared,
And when I fell ill, you cried.

A bath, a feed, a hug, a kiss,
All acts of tender love and bliss,
The nectar of growth for a happy boy,
The object of your pride and joy

You toiled all life and spent your years,
In sleepless nights and restless days,
To mold your son into a perfect man,
Your dreams oft brought you tears.

A scholar, statesman, soldier or saint,
Whatever I am destined to be,
The spark that lights my vision will be
The glory of my mother

O’ love incarnate is my mother,
Human virtue in full bloom
Let us worship our revered mother
To save the earth from doom
