Most Comfortable Bed Poem by Sandra Regan

Most Comfortable Bed

Rating: 4.3

Tonight you'll sleep in the most comfortable bed.
Laptop off, music's done, silence the songs in your head.
Dreams come swift, morning fog, and soon you're awake.
She'll think, 'what a beautiful day' for goodness sake.
A day of potential for wonderful things,
Sweet smelling flowers and birds that sing.
Songs speak to them through car radios,
memories of dancing, singing, highs and lows.
Long conversations, and a laugh or two,
She looks forward to seeing you.
Believing he could do anything,
She looks to what this day will bring.
Rocks collected from a distant beach,
He knows that nothing is out of his reach.
Breathing it in and giving good cheer,
It's so crazy, but they have nothing to fear.
Life will bring tears, and darkness, and rain,
loss of friendships, jobs, and pain.
Deep quiet nights left all alone,
memories, heartaches, and unringing phones.
But, tonight she'll listen to her rough perfect song,
no talk with him is ever too long.
And yes, we'll sleep in the most comfortable bed,
be it couch, the floor, or a book we read.
Close our eyes just one more time,
and smile cause we knew we were on each other's mind.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written for someone who needed to be reminded that no matter where life takes you or what happens - good or bad - be thankful for the simple things and remember tonight you will sleep in the most comfortable bed. So shut off that laptop, put away your cell, and turn off the music in your head...
