Morning Poem by Marea Johnson

Morning

The sky turns from black
to purple to blue
Gone is the night
and all is anew.

The birds start to sing
I stop and I listen
Dew covered bushes
glitter and glisten.

The morning is here
in all of her splendor
Sharing her beauty
so quiet and tender.

I know I should sleep
I've been up all night
But who could sleep now
in the sweet dawn's delight?

Powder blue sky
clear as can be
I lay down my head
to sleep peacefully.
