Moonless Night Poem by Bill Simmons

Moonless Night

Rating: 5.0

Tonight another moonless night
With only the stars to hold me tight
As I’m missing you I know although in vain
Tonight sometime I know I’ll say your name

Except to tarry beneath the stars
And wonder tonight where it is you are
And pray for rain to hide this hurt and pain
To gaze upon and know one name in vain

How do I go on with my life
When I’m all wrapped up and torn inside
How do others how do they make it through
Do they count the tears that fall when there is no moon

Is there a being somewhere overhead
That keeps up with the tears I cry in bed
Is it only the lonely that know as I do
One name in vain and they too hide the truth

Alone and beneath a moonless night
With only the stars to hold me tight
As I gaze upon where the moon it should be
A whisper of your name it slips from me.
