Moon Poem by Mayank Mehta

Moon

At the end of dusk and beginning of night,
Silence wandered around the area of sight,
Lanterns ran their rays emitting light,
She had her dinner with family, it was delight.

It was on the full moon day,
When she headed towards her bedroom way,
Suddenly she was admired by the lunar ray,
Which hit her face when she was about to lay.

The bright, white and pleasant rays of moon,
Gave her thoughts a pleasant boon,
She was asleep a bit soon,
It happened on the 21st day of June.

She reached the moon in her dream,
It was white as the vanilla cream,
She felt her weight as equal to a ream,
Her thoughts ran faster than a light beam.

She started wandering on it,
Everything was pleasant, but something wasn’t fit,
There were many craters like pit,
She the moon about it.

The moon said, ” Today I’m in my full size,
Looking like cheese which attracts mice,
But I’m never so nice,
Sometimes I’m half or in the shape of the spiciest spice.

I don’t have shield,
The stones ever destroy my yield,
Due to which no one fields,
But the earth has made me her shield.

I ever wan and wax,
I show grief ever wan and max,
This income you get without paying any tax,
Never melt in grief like wax.

A good human ever works for other,
He never lasts in his grief’s tether,
His heart is pleasant like feather,
He never leaves his ground even when the skies change the weather.”

She woke up the next day at noon,
A note was with her given by the moon,
She understood how to be good soon,
This happened on the 22nd day of June.
