Monster Called Depression Poem by Donna Nimmo

Monster Called Depression

Where do I go and where can I hide
That monster called depression is lurking inside
I work so hard to make it go away
Like a hovering cloud that wants to stay

Grasping to the edge of a deep black abyss
Have to look to the light and not reminisce
Got to keep so busy so I don't think
About the terrors of the past, once upon the brink

So long ago, when I couldn't be me
Where my soul was imprisoned and I could not free
My being bound to him through fear and shame
An animal held my life hostage, it's no longer his game!
