Monsoon Showers Poem by Jaipal Singh

Monsoon Showers

Welcome, first widespread
Rainfall of the monsoon
During this rainy season
Around the place I live
Brings much sought after
Relief, joy and cheers
Among the human folks
In a hot and sultry weather.

I watch with solace
Rejoicing human beings
In their balcony and verandah
In the open on road and in park
Children too play paper boats
Near flowing small streams
Dancing peacocks and pigeons
On the surrounding rooftops…

In a sultry hot weather
No hot weather appliance
Air-conditioner, cooler or fan
Nothing can match or substitute
The comfort and pleasure
That naturally cooled air brings
By constant showers of Savan
During the monsoon season.
