Mona Lisa, The Enigmatic Masterpiece Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Mona Lisa, The Enigmatic Masterpiece

Her sweet enigmatic smile
Clear understanding defies
For no sooner upon it one pries
It seems to rub off in a sly.

Her identity too remains an unresolved puzzle
Forcing experts and connoisseurs into a huddle,
To establish her identity as to who she really was
Or to simply say, ‘to winnow the wheat from the chaff. '

But nothing can stop Mona Liza from smiling
For she has been for long our concerted efforts thwarting -
I suspect, that besides the smile it was an artist's masterstroke
To keep her identity too veiled under a cloud of smoke.
