Mixture Poem by Chris Jibero

Mixture

Drawn from the bounteous breasts
Weaned from mouth-watering milk
Feeding on lean hard meat
Trash cast away
On the march to glory
Fearless like a horse in the thick of battle
A crown won and celebrated
Decorated with a diadem of beauty

But suddenly comes a tempest of hail
A destroying storm
Mighty waters overflowing
And when the floods recede
Earth discloses sucked blood
Bruised bread
Fouled water
And a non-circumvention treaty with the pit
That's life so sweet and so bitter
In its grandiose admixture.
