Mistaken Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Mistaken

Mistaken

With Noruz the post cards
-need to get enveloped
-be sent out…

Plenty are the shops
-everyone has a sign
-selling things that vary
-for the needs and the jobs

I drive on the Finch and Leslie
-see the shops and pull out
-all signs are in Chinese
-park, enter and wonder
-since so are the people
-products…

I wonder where I am
-in China?
-Canada?

Gather thoughts and I think
-though I am fully lost
-with joy and pleasure

The borders are vanished
-broken cage and bars
-all I need is to learn

I have to adjust to new terms
-with neighbours
-their looks, eyes
-the faces, behaviours
-to the food and culture

I am sure if I do as I say
-cannot be mistaken…
